Geocache Description:

A cache dedicated to Parents

All of us have people around us who inspire us, motivate us, and help us to grow as individuals. This cache series is dedicated to the family and friends, the loved ones in our lives. In each case, I will encourage to include in your logs information about your family and friends and what makes them special to you.

This cache is dedicated to Parents and is a dual dedication. It is dedicated to your parents, and is also dedicated to those who are the parents of geocaching in Austin.

Whether you love them or hate them, you are here reading this because of your parents. They are the building blocks of the family. They helped to mold and shape you into the person you are today. They can be easily taken for granted until it is too late.

We can also be thankful to a handful of individuals whose initiative and drive began what has become a very popular sport/hobby/pastime/obsession for the rest of us. These individuals are:
Pumpkin Princess
Eoghan
Coppertone
Austin Explorer
John Nagle
Threelanes
MarfaRocks

It is because these folks nurtured the sport during its infancy that we have the sport in its current form to enjoy.

Although this is not a theme cache, as with all the Shameless dedication caches, please leave a little of yourself. For this cache, please share something either about your parents and what make them special to you, or share what geocaching has done for you. Feel free to share a funny story or two. Physical TNLN’s and Travel Bugs are always welcome.

This cache is located in the Barton Creek Greenbelt. The easiest access point to this is the trailhead off Spyglass road (N30 15.455 W97 47.242). From there it is only a short walk to the cache on a fairly flat trail. There is a slope leading down from the road, and there are boulders to be negotiated at the cache site, but no climbing is required. The cache is within easy visual distance of the trail so stealth is required. Although there is no Poison Ivy at the immediate site, there are intermittent plants in the area. Mosquito repellant should be considered for this as well. Enjoy your walk.
