This is a two-stage multi-cache. You'll have one stop in the city before you can hit the country where the final cache location is. It's called 'Four Color Cache' because it refers to the printing method traditionally used for printing comic books, and that's what you'll find inside the cache-- comic books! Probably about 50 of them or so, along with the requisite stashnote and a logbook and pens (oops, there may not be a pen! Do bring one along if I did forget to put it in there!).
Stage One:
Once your GPS brings you to the general area, you'll need some change for a parking space. What you're looking for is a very small dime-sized metal tag attached to...something with a thin metal wire. The lat/long coordinates are etched onto it for the second and final stage of the cache. When approaching the location, bear in mind that there's a lot of sometimes heavy traffic around so be CAREFUL. No man is an 'island'. Once you reach the spot where the tag is placed (it's in plain sight but it's small but definitely off the beaten path for most pedestrians save for those who are jaywalkers), you'll find yourself at a vantage point to notice a retail store that may be a good place to pick up an item to put into the cache. Remember the theme of the cache, OK?
Stage Two:
After having found the first cache location and perhaps having visited the retail store (you'll feel 'relief' once you've gone in and out of the traffic), you're on your way to the final cache location! Hooray (ahem).
Access to the final cache will be via any number of marked trails, but to be honest (and I am), I took no marked trails to place this cache. I bushwacked for about ten minutes to reach the spot. Get a map at any nearby trailhead of the area. It will prove useful, but only for awhile. Remember-- bushwacking will be required. If you approach it from above, I can't speak to the brush you may have to 'wack' through. From below, it's relatively unbushy but you'll feel like Julie Andrews at the beginning of 'The Sound of Music' before too long.
My cell phone is usually with me most of the time-- if I can be of any help and you've got a signal, you can call 510-366-3732 and I'll offer what help I can.
Good luck and happy non-trails!
