To legally enter the Barry M. Goldwater Range (BMGR) and/or the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge (CPNWR), all adults must possess an appropriately issued Range Permit. To receive a Range Permit, all adults (ALL persons over 18 years of age) MUST complete a Hold Harmless Agreement. This permit can be aquired at the Human Resources Office at MCAS Yuma. This area is totally safe to enter, as long as one has a valid pass and stays within the designated areas, it is only a kilometer or so away from the Fortuna Mine. A high clearance vehicle and pass is mandatory to get to this cache, that is why it is rated a 5 in terrain difficulty. It is a short, but somewhat steep, climb to the cache. About a third of the way up a hill, in a desert camouflaged ammo can. My 5 and 6 year old boys did the climb with little difficulty. Be careful of loose rock. If you go in the hot months, make sure you bring plenty of water and sun protection. We included a log book, several emergency blankets and ponchos, emergency matches, gum, and some pens in the cache. Have fun
