5 miles round trip, 1300' elevation gain from Altadena using the old Mt. Wilson toll road.
Henninger Flats is a lush oasis on the old Mt. Wilson toll road. Not only is there a campground with tables, restrooms, clean water and cooking grills, but a great little museum, as well. LA county also maintains an experimental nursery here where research is done on reforestation techniques.
The cache is a green ammo can and is located near the upper campground.
