This cache is located on Mount Shasta, it will require x-c skis or snow shoes. Distance from the car is about 1.25 miles (the way we came out), elevation is around 7,600'. Depending on weather and snow conditions, avalanches, white outs and hypothermia are always a possabality. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS if you are not qualified in back country snow/winter travel!
For experienced snow travelers and back country skiers, this would be considered a nice day in the mountains (in good weather).....skiers may want to make a day out of it by skiing up to Horse Camp, then coming at the cache on your way back down. If you are a new to snow shoeing and the weather is nice, this could be a fun trip, if the weather turns bad, it could get nasty....go on a weekend and there should be plenty of skiers and climbers near by. Be prepared for any type of weather, we got hit with 50/60 mph winds above the cache site.
The cache is very well hidden, but not hanging in a tree....you may have to dig it out, but not more then a foot or so, no matter how deep the snow is around it.....just get into it, and you'll find it.
