Geocache Description:

The Georgia Geocachers Association April meeting will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2002, from 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM EDT.

The coordinates for this meeting have now been posted. What a nice new Gwinnett County Park this is! We will be meeting in a pavilion by the lake, with fishing available from a dock near the pavilion (Georgia Fishing License regulations are enforced, they say). If you have a folding patio chair or camp chair, please bring it, as seating will be a bit limited if we have a big crowd.

Talk about a cache-rich environment! There are SIX geocaches in this one park, at least three of which (***) can be hunted from one parking spot about a quarter-mile from the meeting site. And the others seem to be within walking distance from the pavilion. NOTE: If you plan to seek the caches in the park, PLEASE print out your own copy of the cache listings. We may have a very limited number of printouts available.

"ACER I" by Team Acer ***

"Mars Rover Data Collection Point" by TheAdventurers (virtual cache)

"New Hope Cache" by erik ***

"Picnic Paradise" by TheAdventurers

"Tribble Mill Trek Cache" by Bill, Lucy, and Tara ***

"Bear Den 1 Cache" by Team Acer and VNI Venturers (just posted)

This is a family-oriented event for everyone interested in geocaching in the State of Georgia. Visitors and kids are welcome.

If you are coming in from the east (which most of you will NOT be), you can just use your GPS and follow the arrow. If, however, you are coming from the west, you will do well to look at the map first. Otherwise, your GPS will suggest that you take a scenic trip completely around the park, with no way to get in it!

AGENDA:

  • Presentation on Walking Sticks - Randy Jeffers
  • State of the State Parks issue update, Geocaching in Gwinnett - Erik
  • Editorial Policy Proposal - gpsfun
  • Informal discussion/networking period
  • "Women's Birding Bust" event information - LoCache
  • We will work to complete the meeting as early as possible so those involved in the Geocaching Challnege planning may have additional work time.

If you've not attended a previous meeting and want to see what you missed click the links below. (You must be logged in to view archived caches)

Be sure to read the logs of those who attended and look at any attached photos. Enjoy!
