Geocache Description:

A short walk in a city park

THIS CACHE IS NOW OUT OF SERVICE. WE WILL POST THE PICTURES OF THE VISITORS HERE IN A FEW DAYS. CHECK OUT THE SUMMER SOLSTICE GEOCACHE AT GC664E.

This is the third of our seasonal caches. The Vernal Equinox, the first official day of Spring, is on March 20 at 2:16 PM. It is the point at which the sun crosses the celestial equator from south to north. This signals the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The vernal equinox has long been a significant event in the lives of agricultural peoples as it symbolizes nature's regeneration, fertility, growth and bounty. The word equinox comes from Latin and means "equal night". On this day, night and day each last twelve hours. The Vernal Equinox used to be considered the beginning of the Pagan New Year. It was a time of joy called forth by the resurrection of the "Light of the World" (sun god) from the underworld of the winter, from where he arose to join his goddess Eostre.

You too can celebrate the comming of the new season by hunting for this Geocache. It is in a clear plastic container with a blue lid. In addition to the usual log notebook there is a one time use camera which we encourage you to use to take a picture of your hunting team. Take a picture, leave the camera! :-) Try not to have the sun at the back of your subject.

This cache will remain in place until the first day of Summer. We will then post the pictures here.

Please return the cache to its hiding place the way you found it.
