Permitted by an oral agreement with Park Manager, Ken Watson, this
traditional cache was placed just off a nature trail. Which nature
trail is up to your GPS.
This is a family-friendly cache, but be prepared to walk at
least 6/10 of a mile. Wagons and hefty strollers can make the trip,
but be prepared to pick 'em up in a couple places where there's a
lot of standing water, especially after rain.
This cache is pretty simple. It is in a .30 calibre ammo can,
located near a wonderful place to view woodducks. When I placed it,
there were about 5 swimming around in the area.
The challenge is twofold (and this ain't much of a challenge).
First is the walk. Stick to the marked trails. You may park within
.2 miles or so, but be ready to walk 2/3 of a mile each way to the
cache. Maybe a little more if you get lost (which can't happen with
a GPS, can it?). Second challenge is...well, I'll let you find out
for yourself. It's pretty much in plain view.
Since this is located just off the trail, logging will be quite
visible by others. Try not to give others opportunity to
plunder.
Lake Tawakoni State Park is a part of the Texas State Parks and
Wildlife system. There is a nominal entrance fee of $2 per person
12 and over. Under 12 is free. Hours are from 6AM until 10PM unless
you are camping (which ain't a bad idea there).
Good luck, and enjoy the hunt!
