Geocache Description:

Find a historic location that is on The National Historic Sites of Canada website.

Thanks to Night Crawlers who came up with the idea and allowed me to make a Canadian implementation. See theirs here.

This is a log anywhere cache. The cache coordinates are the approximate geographic center of Canada, (according to these guys anyways).

All around Canada there are Historical sites most people never knew existed. Have you ever wanted to find some history close to home? You can find them by using the The National Historic Sites of Canada website. Currently contains listings for over 800 sites as well as people and other aspects of Canadian history. Unless you're a historian or archeologist, you may find dozens of sites near you that you never knew about.

Search for Historic Places here: http://parkscanada.pch.gc.ca/progs/lhn-nhs/index_E.asp

Use the above website to discover which properties are listed. After you find a property on the website, physically find it, take a picture if possible, then log it here to enlighten your fellow geocachers.

To claim a find, you must:

Give the name, the date the property was listed on The National Register of Historic Places, and the date of its "Period of Significance". Give the address or location (ie City/County/State.) of the property, AND both Lattitude and Longitude coordinates as well as a website link direct to the page for that property. Post a picture proving you were there (GPS or You and GPS in the picture). Try to capture photos of anything relevant to the property (buildings, objects, land). If you know the history behind the site a simple explanation of why you chose your site would be of interest. We would enjoy hearing about your thoughts about the site. If you don't have the ability to upload pictures (no camera/scanner), mail me a postcard featuring the site and I will scan and upload it for you (e-mail me for address).

There are only 2 rules:
1.A particular site may only be claimed once.
2.You may only log this cache once.

If any sites are located on private property, you do not need to get any closer than publically allowable.

EXAMPLE of what you MUST provide in order to log the cache. Upload pictures/Fix log within 48HRs or log gets removed.
