Beautiful 360-degree views on this short mountain hike. The
cache is hidden about 200 feet off of a relatively new trail in the
Sandia Mountains. Total elevation change is around 200 feet, and
the round-trip distance is 2.5 miles.
Park your car at N 35 12.052, W 106 24.320. Bring along $3 to pay
the parking fee. A well established trail starts from the northeast
corner of the parking lot, marked by a wooden sign.
As you hike up the trail, look to your left at N 35 12.014, W
106 24.125 to see a distinctive landmark. (Please do not go inside
it, though.)
When you reach the top of the mesa, there are spectacular views
to the east and west.
When you reach a sign post at N 35 11.691, W 106 23.782 about
one mile into the hike, you are getting near the cache. It is
hidden about 200 feet away from the established trail that you have
been on.

July 23, 2009 by ZenGuru (996 found) Really nice hike. I have never been out this trail, and I was looking for a less extreme hike to take my daughter from New York - this trail fit the bill perfectly. Not too long, great views, and not too strenuous. And a nice cache to boot. Signed log. Thanks for the cache. ZenGuru from NM

May 5, 2009 by Steve, Ginger, and Kids (1975 found) What a great little trail! I would highly recommend it for all ability levels. All of the squirrels seemed almost tame, ha ha! Found cache directly, took a cool fishing lure keychain, left a caribiner keychain, and enjoyed the views. TFTC!
