This cache is located in Mt. Tom state park.(off rte.202)there is a nominal parking fee for in-staters Memorial Day through Labor Day. The fee is $10 for out of staters, but you can park at the end of the road before you drive past Camp Chinqueka and walk in. The other cars parked there are for the private beach on that side of the pond. You can also purchase, at the gate, a Charter Oak Pass, which is a season pass to all CT state parks. This pass will allow you to get into any state park in CT except for Gillette Castle and overnight camping, without paying again. Best purchased at the beginning of the season if you plan on visiting a lot of CT state parks. The park is open sunrise through sunset.
Other activities in the summer include picnic area,swimming,hiking trails and fishing.
This cache is located near the summit. Some parts of trail are fairly steep with loose rocks.(slippery when wet)
P.S. Unfortunately I do not have control of the insect population. If it's that time of year bring the DEET or a net.
