Geocache Description:

The path to this cache includes interesting overlooks of Elk Creek. There is a lot of wildlife in this area. Fisherman will enjoy seeing steelhead, bass, and suckers in the creek throughout the spring and fall months.

The best way to get to this cache is to start at the Girard Boro Park Picnic Area. The entrance (the intersection of Lake and Park Streets) is located at N 42º 00.245', W 080º 19.723'. Turn west onto Park Street.

Given a fork in the road, staying to the right will lead to the picnic pavillion and parking area located at N 41º 59.850', W 080º 20.202'. From here, follow the fishermen's path along the creek. The trek, which is on paths for all but the last 150ft (45m) is .66mi (1.06km) long.

Warning! Follow the path along the stream, but take the first well-worn path to the right or else the difficulty/terrain becomes 3½/5 rather than 2/2 (a very steep cliff)!

Please Note: The Lake & Maple intersection sign is correct. Coming from Rt. 5, you would be in Lake City, which has its own Lake Street. Once you cross the bridge on Lake City's Maple Avenue, you are on Girard's Lake Street. Lake City Maple Avenue = Girard Lake Street. Don't let the Lake City Lake Street fool you! If you get easily confused, I suggest coming in from Rt. 20, turning north onto Rt. 18 (Rice Avenue) and immediately taking the left fork (Girard's Lake Street). Park Street will then be to the left.
