Geocache Description:

Just off the city trail system in Chaska

Originaly Placed 5/2/2002

Often people think that only places where you find semiconductors being made are in the Far East or in Silicon Valley, but there's a lot of semiconductor activity around the Minnesota area too... So, as I was hiding my first geocache, I was inspired by a few of the companies in the area around this beautiful trail area in Chaska.
Processed Silicon
The cache can be reached along the Chaska trail system running N/S along Hwy 41.
The nearest public parking area is at the west end of Lyman Blvd.

When visiting this cache, there are a few things to take note of:
1) (When it's not winter) This trail is fairly well used from about 11-1 on weekdays by people excerising on their lunch breaks
2) There are private homes on the hill above the trail. You do not need to go anywhere near them to reach the cache.
3) You won't need to go more than 10' off the trail.
4) It's not in a marsh.
5) There's a a good view of wildlife from N 44° 50.779, W 93° 36.176

The first stage of this cache is (NO LONGER) a small clear container with a small section of a completed microchip (before it's encased in black plastic)
The coordinates of the main cache WERE attached to it.

The main cache is now an ammo container.
The new cache contents on (re)placement (March 2003):
  • A duplicate of the microcache, (except it's not glued shut) as a first finder prize.
  • a bunch of old silicon (aka SIMMS.) (Friends of 'Chip Simmons' TB1F5D ) (May he rest in peace (but not a PC)
  • The Coaster Collector (TB2FC7) (To Remove some of those technological Blunders
  • A Multi-tool (brand new)
  • A Pocket Tool (brand new)
  • A couple of toys for the kids
And of course a logbook and writing instruments.

Once some more space clears out, I'll be placing a few more blank silicon wafers into the cache.

This cache was the starting place of the Class One Cleanroom bug (pictured above, TB19B4) who has been MIA since 11/18/2002, when the last known cachers, LS Troopers picked him up from GC836D and never logged anything on the website. (Information provided by the paper log and other cachers in the area)
