Located in Basset, Va. less than 1 mile from Philpott Dam. You will need a small canoe or raft. The cache is placed in a cave on top of a small mountain. Make sure both hands are free cause you'll need em.
You could access the cache via a small hike (There are no paths to follow and GPS may not work.) If you want to hike the best cordinates to park is N36 47.070' W080 00.434' and you can cut strait through the woods (but thats no fun). To access the cache via the river, park at N36 47.322 W080 00.523 and get down to the river the best way you can. Follow river down stream to N36 47.235 W080 00.423 and its all uphill from here. Be careful and don't underestimate the terrain! I encourage you to spend some time out there if you can. There are some really neat campgrounds in the area. 2 of the campgrounds are located on islands in the middle of the lake. If you enjoy fly-fishing the Smith River is stocked with rainbow trout. You could really turn this in to a day or a weekend deal. The cache has a lot of various items. The first one to find it will have some neat things to choose from. Good Luck!
