One of Oregon's origional caches...so why have you not found
it?
Wow.
Starting on Wildcat Mountain rd, N45*20.308, W122*14.077 drive
east. keep going until you see the signs for "Trailhead" and a
large gravel parking area Start at the "Trailhead." N45 18.047 W122
03.918,
Or take the road (105) to the left just before you get to the
"Trailhead" (N45 18.232 W122 03.951) and follow it around to the
vicinity of N45*18.145 W122 03.160. This is where I started. Don't
go much beyond here as the road dead ends very shortly beyond. The
trail is just north of either of the two turn-outs near the
coord's, just beyond the boulders (<100'). Turn left onto the
trail. Once on the trail, you will travel about 0.4M without
getting much closer to the cache, until you reach N45*17.995,
W122*02.750 (Just before the trail map billboard), turn left onto
the one-lane path and follow it straight to the cache ~0.7M
away.
This parking spot that I took makes it about 1 Mile each way,
but it is fairly easy and level. It was less then 1 hour once I
parked.
The view is awesome.

October 25 by mudder91 (1406 found) The real story on this one was really the drive to the cache. Since we were coming from the East, we tried a different approach from the recommendation, which was a mistake. We ended up driving perhaps 8 miles on logging roads and backroads, which was not so kind to our Camry. Negotiated the terrain relavtively well, but on a couple of occasions we did bottom out. A mile from the parking location, the GPS told us to continue, but the road ended. Had to go all the way back to 26 and start again. As a bonus, we got our son uncomfortably close to car-sickness, too. After, we followed instructions closely (which we should have learned to do from our prior experiences). Took the slightly longer trek in a light drizzle. It was a nice walk. Spotted a salamander and a couple of enormous banana slugs. Enjoyed the spectacular views, even if it was a bit overcast. Over the 2hrs, we also had some very nice family conversation. Thank you for maintaining this historic cache! Son took one of the many pirate coins (which he found very cool), but unfortunately we brought nothing to trade. SL
[view this log] | October 23 by Estacadians (420 found) We finally got this one @4:39pm. It probably was not the best day to go for it since it was so windy and rainy but the trail was very nice and we had a fun hike. That was the biggest ammo can we have found and it was full of swag L-TB

| September 26 by wild-wildbill (460 found) It was my third time in the area so it was a little easier to find my way here. First time I was stopped about a mile down the hill by 3 feet of snow. The second time I parked in the road and hiked to GC12 and discovered the trail there. This time I brought mrsmales and parked at the old quarry (N 45° 18.065 W 122° 03.932) and picked up the trail there. We followed the trail to GC1WQQC (a recently placed cache) then continued along the trail before turning left on the trail that leads to GC17. From here we took the woods road (ATV trail) down the mountain to the road and picked up GC16A8Y cache then followed the road to the GC15V8K cache. From here with continued along the road to GC12 (so mrsmales could log it) and then followed the well worn trail up the mountain to the quarry and the car. A beautiful 7 plus mile easy loop hike with stunning views. The only part of the hike not on my GPSR was the ATV trail but common sense told me that puppy had to lead to the road. Thanks for a great hike; I would have never known about this area if not for GC12 and GC17. Geocaching at it’s very best. Thanks for keeping these old timers active. Anybody know what happened to Jerry Connelly ?

| September 26 by mrsmales (495 found) Gorgeous - absolutely gorgeous. We hiked up from the quarry, then down the woods road - to the real road to GC12 and back to the quarry - about 8 miles I think - my feet are really griping. But the view!! Well worth it all. Thanks for maintaining this cache so nicely - it was in great shape and full of lots of goodies. Liberated the travel coin - it's flying to New Jersey tomorrow.
