One of Oregon's origional caches...so why have you not found it?
Wow.

Starting on Wildcat Mountain rd, N45*20.308, W122*14.077 drive east. keep going until you see the signs for "Trailhead" and a large gravel parking area Start at the "Trailhead." N45 18.047 W122 03.918,

Or take the road (105) to the left just before you get to the "Trailhead" (N45 18.232 W122 03.951) and follow it around to the vicinity of N45*18.145 W122 03.160. This is where I started. Don't go much beyond here as the road dead ends very shortly beyond. The trail is just north of either of the two turn-outs near the coord's, just beyond the boulders (<100'). Turn left onto the trail. Once on the trail, you will travel about 0.4M without getting much closer to the cache, until you reach N45*17.995, W122*02.750 (Just before the trail map billboard), turn left onto the one-lane path and follow it straight to the cache ~0.7M away.

This parking spot that I took makes it about 1 Mile each way, but it is fairly easy and level. It was less then 1 hour once I parked.

The view is awesome.

After heading out for a specific puzzle cache this morning, we ended up so close to GC12 and GC17 that we had to give them a try. Got GC12 first, then continued up the road for this one. Got a bit confused by different combinations of coordinates provided; some in the text; others added as child waypoints; so we ended up down the wrong road. Finally got back on track; made it through some pretty good mud and potholes. Slid across a few icy patches and continued on up the hill. Got to within 0.5mi of the cache location, but still 0.25mi of the 2nd parking coordinates. There, the snow and ice covered more of the road. And we realized we were facing a fairly long hike and limited time left before I had to be back in town. This cache is probably easily accessible right now, given what we saw from our spot. If we don't get much more snow in the coming weeks, we might have to give it another go. If more snow comes, we'll wait until spring. But we'll definitely be back.

This was the funnest cache I've done yet! the whole day was an adventure. we started up a prety overgrown road before turning around to park at the lower parking coords. We were glad we did because ther was 2 ft of snow at the upper! The day was foggy and raining so we didn't get to enjoy the views. The snow started getting prety deep about halfway up and at the cache it was 3ft deep! We found it! We didn't hang out long. We took a couple of quick picks and headed back. thanks for keeping this one going!

Wow !!! We finally made it !!! We parked at PK#1 since #2 did not seem to accomidate the largeish geo-mobile and the snow would have been a little troublesome anyway, it was a bit more of a hike but not bad. At PK#2 the snow was around 2 feet deep, and as we neared the prize it was around 3 feet deep. Once we got to the bench we "soaked" up some of the limitted view we had, and at this point it has'nt stopped raining and the wind was picking up.. So we decided to focus on the cache and get out while the gettin was good. Found the cache quickly, took some more photo's TNLNSL and split...

Next mission GC12

We will be back when the weather is better, I can only imagine the views, this was one of the coolest caches yet, it was a blast earning the smiley on this one, thanks for keeping it going.... I'll post photo's later.

The real story on this one was really the drive to the cache. Since we were coming from the East, we tried a different approach from the recommendation, which was a mistake. We ended up driving perhaps 8 miles on logging roads and backroads, which was not so kind to our Camry. Negotiated the terrain relavtively well, but on a couple of occasions we did bottom out. A mile from the parking location, the GPS told us to continue, but the road ended. Had to go all the way back to 26 and start again. As a bonus, we got our son uncomfortably close to car-sickness, too.

After, we followed instructions closely (which we should have learned to do from our prior experiences). Took the slightly longer trek in a light drizzle. It was a nice walk. Spotted a salamander and a couple of enormous banana slugs. Enjoyed the spectacular views, even if it was a bit overcast. Over the 2hrs, we also had some very nice family conversation.

Thank you for maintaining this historic cache!

Son took one of the many pirate coins (which he found very cool), but unfortunately we brought nothing to trade. SL

We finally got this one @4:39pm. It probably was not the best day to go for it since it was so windy and rainy but the trail was very nice and we had a fun hike. That was the biggest ammo can we have found and it was full of swag L-TB
