Geocache Description:

The scene for this romp is a very clean and friendly location called Sussex Village Park. You will be taken on a 1.1 mile tour of the park using various devices and clues  ultimately leading to a micro cache that literally is a small treasure chest hidden somewhere in the park. As the tour progresses, you gather information that will be used to build the location of the chest. The game gets it name from the first step:

  • Park near the listed coordinates. The listed coordinates puts you at the north end of a tree plantation with many trees. One of these trees has a tale to tell. Which one is the problem:
    • The tell tale tree is one of the many. It is not a pine. It dislikes humans. They have cut off one of its northern branches. It stays as far from the trail as possible. Look to the wound for the tale. It's tale is over the heads of most humans. It is but a single digit. Record it here ______________(T).
  • Now lets get more info. Go to  N43 07.666 W88 13.976.
  • Starting at the board of score, head to the hall of fame to learn some more: (680 feet at 87º true)
  • Here we see Sleepy's years of play. Note the decades as on display: __________(D)
  • Remember to follow the lane at your back, towards the East but stay on the track.
  • Past the bend, to the jaundiced font with guardians three...
  • ... and climb the hill to find the footprint of a tree. (235 ft at 339º true from the font )
  • Now  to find an oak, it's name suggests cold too,  and  it is at 445ft at 8º true
  • From here you can see another with a colorful name, use the color in the next part of the game:
  • Spy another font of a different type, it's protected by 4 of that color pipe.
  • Find Walters and look the long way thru, in the distance is a sign to view.
  • At the Sussex tree, you've done the deed,  what year was it last a seed? __________________(M)
  • There are trees in this area, with stories tellin', to  remind us of those who've fallin'.
  • Find the pine way out in center field, it has a plaque with more to yield.
  • Matt was of this young boy's group, record here the number of the troop __________________(G)
  • Back to the path to avoid any groundskeepers wrath.
  • West to the mile marker and to the left at the bend. We're running out of park so we're near the end.
  • Stay on the path as it snakes to the right. As you do a building comes into sight.
  • As you approach, a regular shape comes into sight, how many sides has this hole above the light? ___________(W)
  • Follow the path to the flight line nearby, they apparently shape a number as they fly: ____________ (L)
  • Now to the court to sit and consider our clues, there are plenty of Johns around if you need to.

The final cache is at: N43 07.ATC and W88 14.LZQ

where

  • A= Sum of digits of G
  • C=W / 2
  • Z=M / 433
  • Q = First digit of most recent decade of D
