The North Downs path runs through the woods that cover the top of
the Downs here. The noise from the motorway is much less intrusive
in the nearby Marden Park Wood, which has a number of paths and
bridleways running through it. Nearer the cache there are a number
of places offering views out over the Surrey countryside.
In 2003 much of the new-growth bush on this face of the North
Downs was cleared to give the rare open-downland species more space
to flourish. The open-downland is a Site of Special Scientific
Interest. Access is not restricted, but please take care if you
choose to go walking there. (You don't need to do so in order to
find the cache.)
There's a car park at N51 16.175, W000 01.960, and a point with
a fine view at N51 16.145, W000 01.874 (if you can cope with all
the steps).
The cache is a small (not quite big enough for a CD) white
plastic box containing a selection of small items including a log
book and pencil.
