Some Gave All Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Planet: It is with some regret that I must archive this cache. I chose the spot because of a side trail I found, but it is too sensitive an area for the frequent visits it has been getting. Geocaching has grown so fast in the last three years! I did not notice a difference on my visits since I placed it but perhaps this dry summer has made it more apparent and in the interest of the ecosystem it must go. Thank you all for your visits (average of one per month [:)] ) and your wonderful photographs and stories. It was fun while it lasted, but please come and visit this wonderful mountain anyway. The views are spectacular, the trails are challenging, and the sandwiches at the top are great! Stop in for hot chocolate and pay your respects at the monument. You might see some live music or a few hang gliders sailing off. I loved each and every one of my trips up here. Some gave all, all gave some.
Cache you later,
Planet

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Highest point in Massachusetts. Rating this is hard, you can hike up, or you can drive up. Hiking is all up hill coming in of course. Then I'd rate it a 3-4 but if you drive it's a 1 and then a 2.5 while looking.

The top of Mt Greylock is a war memorial dedicated to the men and women or Masachusetts who gave of themselves during the World War. Take a moment of silence to remember the brave men and women, who have given of themselves, in all wars, for our right to freedom.
All gave some.
Some gave all.
The cache is in a large Tupperware type container with a clear and blue lid hidden not far off the trail.
Please note: When the snow flies on top of this peak it can get pretty deep and the cache will be very well hidden. It isn't covered all that well normally and it's not far off the trail at all. It's a Rubbermaid container so if your poking it with a stick, be gentle! If you are planning a winter hike up to get this you can e-mail me for a better hint if you want. I don't think you'll be able to drive up this mountain, on either road, in a snowy, icy winter, the road is usually closed in the winter. But the ranger tells me they groom the road for snowmobiles, not the trails! Just the road.
Hope you enjoy your visit. The top of the mountain was in the clouds when we placed it but the view coming up is incredible. Camping is available with reservations at the campsite on the mountain.
