Geocache Description:

On the Timothy Lake Bike Loop in Mt Hood National Forest. Prepare yourself for a 13 mile bike/hike around this lake which is famous for it's Mt. Hood views. The trail is moderately difficult because of length. Not technical though there are some tree roots and rocks to negotiate. Biggest danger is crashing while eyeballing the beautiful lake or big trees!!!

Park at the Timothy Lake Dam. Bike North (away from road) along lake edge until you come to the Timothy Lake loop trail. About 4.5 miles into the trail, you will junction with the Pacific Crest Trail which is not open for bikes, so follow directions and turn onto the old 1916 trail. It is marked and open for bikes. Score the cache, if you can, then continue the loop through partial cuts, old clearcuts, and mature forests until you come to Forest Road 42, turn right, go 1/4 Mile turn right again on the Timothy Lake Road, and follow it until you can pickup the trail again on the right. Follow down the hill and intersect the Timothy Lake Trail. NOTE!! If you want to avoid uphill climbs, once you score the cache (if you can find it), turn around and go back to the dam from the way you came. This route will get you about 10 miles instead of 13 or so but will avoid the uphills. Real GEOCACHERS will take the LONG route though.

The CACHE is the retired DOGS AND KIDS cache and is a small tin house containing the usual stuff...

    Scorpion
    Seashell
    Erasure Eyeball
    Fly
    Pocket Compass
    Rock
    Hand Buzzer
    Oregon Wild Button
Take water and trail mix/food. This is a great place to bike and not too difficult for near teens, or early teens too. This cache is a SMALL tin house and your take/leave exchange should be small to fit inside.
