This is a straight forward multi-waypoint cache hunt....with a twist!
(Ya didn't think I'd make things easy for ya, did ya? Heh, heh, heh!!!)
Start at the above coordinates (N45 17.950 W075 49.270) where you will find a label giving the redirect coordinates of the next waypoint. The label is in XX.XXX XX.XXX or .XXX .XXX format giving minutes and decimal minutes for the north and west coordinates, respectively, for the next waypoint. It is understood that the degrees portions are N45 and W075.
Go to the waypoint given by the redirect coordinates in the usual fashion and look for another redirect label, and continue on in this manner. Some of the waypoint labels may be a bit difficult to find, but all are within about 30 meters of the trail. The labels are between 2 and 6 feet off the ground. Finding them will truly test your powers of observation!
The twist comes at one of the waypoint positions where the label is missing! But don't fret! If you are confident that the label is really missing then you have found the ‘Missing Link'! Subtract 0.043 minutes from the north coordinate of the missing label's position and add 0.040 minutes to the west coordinate of the missing label's position. The result gives the coordinates of the cache!
Beware, though! If you make a mistake and assume that the label is truly missing when in fact it's really there, you may become the ‘Missing Link'!
The cache is lodged in a tree with three trunks, about two feet off the ground. The container is camouflage coloured and is about 6 inches in diameter and about 6 inches high. The contents of the cache, when established, were ‘Missing Links', naturally! They were:
- a monkey (missing link!)
- a set of cuff-links
- a telephone cable link
- carabiners
- snap hook links
- puzzle links
- and plastic chain links
Please take one item and leave another. If possible, try to leave a replacement item that fits the ‘Missing Link' theme.
