Geocache Description:

Cache is located less than 100 feet from the South Fork of the New River between Boone and West Jefferson off Hwy 221N. It can be a park and walk or a float and camp!.

Sascawachee Falls is a 100 foot high rock bluff with a spring waterfall dripping down its face. I named it after my friend Randy "Sascawachee", who wanted to stop and camp so we could eat dinner while we were "canoeing the new." Sascawachee is an old Indian name for an eastern cousin of the famous Sasquatch. It means 'hairless ape-man who stumbles through forest like bear in a teepee", or something like that! (Gotcha Randy!)

This spot is GORGEOUS!!! For us, it involved about a 6 hour canoe trip to get to it, but we were fishing the whole way, so it can be reached in 2 to 4 hours by canoe depending on your skills. Put in the river in the Fleetwood, NC area and float down. You may have to go under or around a low-water bridge or two. You can take out your canoe at the Conley Cheek Rd. bridge, which is about 600 yards downstream from the cache, if you day trip in a canoe. This cache is also a GREAT wilderness camp spot and makes a great weekend trip, but please don't ruin it by leaving trash and such. It can probably be reached on foot by parking on Pine Swamp Rd, walking across the cow pasture and wading across the river, but I'm not sure becasue I didn't try it that way. I don't know who own's the psture or if they mind if you cross it, so you might want to ask the nearest homeowner for permission if you walk it. The river is no more than 3 to 4 feet deep at this point, but be carefull. The length of the canoe trip and/or wading the river credits the difficulty rating.

The cache is a round Rubbermaid type bottle that includes...
**A rude phrase button**2 state quarters**Anti-Biotic cream pack (for the chiggers)**Bubble pen**Catfood can cover**Racing flag**Post-it notes**AA bateries**Doggie treats**Harmonica from Art Loeb cache**2 Wooly Booger Fishing flies I tied** and a minature American Flag!

Take a pic of yourself with the camera I left, preferably in front of Sascawachee Falls, and leave us a message. Leave the pen on a rope for others to use to write with, please.

Hope you find it, and have fun.
