glenn95630: This castle is under going major renovation. The trail is blocked. The renovation will probably take decades. So, it makes sense to archive this cache. (Plus, there are a lot more caches in the area than there were in 2002 so it is okay to lose one.)

A virtual cache located on the Italian Riviera.
My family and I spent three weeks visiting Italy in May 2002. We saw many famous things; the David, the Vatican, etc. and many not so famous things. I wanted to mix in some geocaching into the trip, but at the time there weren't very many geocaches in Italy. To help encourage the sport/activity in Italy, I created two caches; this one and Californians Invade Italian Riviera 2.
Since this cache is a virtual cache (no trinket box at the end), I am creating some mystery by not posting the destination of this cache. The cache location is a public accessible location and is listed in some tourism books. The location is off the beaten path with easy parking and no entrance or other fees.
Being from the United States and particularly California, these types of places don't exist where I come from, and I was very excited to spend some time here. Because I enjoyed it so much and since it isn't listed in most tourism books, I thought I'd share it with you by creating a geocache here.
To prove your visit, please email me the answer to the following question, "Parts of the trail are a little hard to follow, to help visitors stay on the trail the maintenance people marked the trail. What is the trail marked with?"
Sidenote: Finding the correct road was not a slamdunk for us, I'll be interested to hear if 'following-the-arrow' will make it easier or harder to find the correct road.
