Geocache Description:

This area is a wonderful little spot to learn about Oregon Coastal Salmon. In fact, if you watch, you may see some cross here. This short hike is mostly on the trail, there is an incline, and you must depart from the real trail for 50 feet or so to find the cache. Easy parking at N44' 48.430 W124' 03.573. This is a simple offset cache.

The Cache is a small ammo box painted very well to match the surroundings. It is at the base of a large tree, leaning against it. The coordinates above will take you to a nice grassy spot and a short pier. If you simply can't find the cache, come back to this place and you can jump off the pier in frustration!

Once you get to the pier coordinates, you should be able to look about 350 degrees magnetic and see the trail. Unless you feel like swimming, or long jumping, you can't go directly to the trail. However there is another way to get there. Once you depart the grassy area and head up the hill on the trail, count your steps.

Of course you noticed on your way in the nice memorial placed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ron Slane Post/Auxiliary XXXX. You did remember that number didn't you? If you divide that four digit number by 141 you get the number of paces you should make up the trail.

After taking those paces, you should see a small trail off the main trail on your left (looking west). You should depart from the main trail and look for a cluster of trees (3 or more) about 50 feet from the trail.

Please use care when departing from the trail, try not to make it look TOO well traveled. Please be sure to hide the cache well again.
