This cache has a short hike but a lot of bushwhacking at the end. Park at the Rockefeller Lookout off of Route 9W. Hike North. This could be very tricky. There are two trails that branch off to the right. DON'T FOLLOW THEM!! Make sure you follow the trail very closely to the guard rail before crossing a series of wooden planks. Any other path will take you perilously close to the cliff edge!
The cache is hidden amonst the ruins of Robert Cadgene, a dentist who owned this property 100 years ago. There were many stately homes here at the time but most were bulldozed as part of the plan to preserve what is now the NJ palisades. This estate still remains to some degree, and you'll need to bushwhack past it to get to this cache. I will give one hint: from the estate, you will need to hop off a short wall. You can get thru another way but only if you bring a machette...and an entire bottle of Off!
The cache is a moderately sized cylinder. It is camoflagued extremely well. From 4 feet away I had trouble spotting it, but it will be easily spotted if not re-hid well by people who seek this cache. I've included good clues in case the sattelites aren't with or you grow weary of the hunt.
Afterwards, look for a ziploc bag directly to the left of you amongst the rocks. It contains maps & info in the NJ Palisades. Also be sure to take anti-tick measures. I visited here 3x to check coordinates and each time came back with friends.
There is a first place prize for the person who gets here first. Be sure to take it.
Note: this cache will be archived october 31st. Seek it by then or miss out
