This cache was placed as an interesting diversion after reaching
the beautiful Lagunita Seco cache. The trail continues up along the
base of the cliffs on Palomas peak.
Follow the directions for getting to "Lagunita Seco", but continue
along the trail past the meadow. The trail is slightly steeper up
to the cliffs, but nothing that 99% of the population can't handle.
Soon you will pass along the base of the huge overhanging rock
ledges.
Notice all of the clips screwed into the rock face along the way,
the area is a popular rock climbing practice area. The trail along
the cliffs is very scenic and unusual, but pay attention to the
coordinates to find the easiest way to the cache. Everyone in our
orignal group, from an 8 year old to a 50 year old made it without
too much difficulty. If all hope is lost read the encrypted notes
they will make you go aha! So bring a printout just in case. The
original coffee can has been replaced by a plastic container,
thanks fellow cacher. The coffee can was originally my daughter
Abby's tea stash until Dad absconded with it. May it rest in peace!

August 1, 2009 by budabeli (4169 found) Fairly fast find (we were treading carefully) with Churchmouse92 doing the Palomas Loop. Great trail, incredible views and comfortable hiking (did not get past the 70's this AM). Made the 4 star rock scramble (read: rock climbing for non-rock climbers) up and down in one piece (each). TFTC!

May 23, 2009 by ZenGuru (996 found) Spent some time looking for this one on a paperless caching expedition to Palomas Peak. This one wasn't really on my list and I hadn't looked at the cache listing before setting out. Now I wish I had :-(. Maybe next time.

May 17, 2009 by Team Donutdog (1489 found) Third of several caches on this trail today. We earned this one. Tried to follow shakyjim's suggestion but I messed up and we did some backtracking in addition to a lot of bushwhacking. Great spot once we found it. Thanks!

May 12, 2009 by Steve, Ginger, and Kids (1975 found) What a great cache in a great spot! This might be one of the neatest hikes in the Sandias - I know I enjoyed every bit of it. It took me five minutes to find it and I was starting to despair when I spotted a blue corner. It is not a plastic container so I thought maybe I had found the original or something else but everything was in order when I looked at the log. Took the blue scarf and left a US flag patch and had lunch while enjoying the views and the ravens circling around. Also replaced the baggy for the log with a new one as the old one looked like it had been chewed on. Some bug must have gotten in there somehow. Hid as well as found. TFTC, the hike and little climb, and the chance at the views from the sight!
