From Rt 26 north, turn right at Sheetz gas staion. About
1/4-1/2 mile on the left is Mt. Nittany St. Follow this street to the end,
park there.
The cache is at the top of Nittany mountain which offers a beautiful view of the entire Penn State campus. Nittany Mountain is "the" local landmark for Happy Valley which makes this an excellent cache for this area.
To get there, park at the small parking area at the head of the trail - you can't miss it - there is a house at the end of the road so you can't go any farther. Follow the trail which starts as a dirt road, and then begin up the trail which is clearly worn and marked with white blazes. Grab a trail guide and read about Nittany Mountain and the conservation efforts which are trying to preserve this landmark.
The trail is very winding, but you will eventually get to the top. Once you get there follow the path to the right (west) which takes you to a clearing where you can see a beautiful view and great sunsets since it faces west. Once you get there, the cache is hidden about 75 yards behind the viewing area. It is a tupperware container and is well hidden inside a hollow, fallen tree. I placed some wood against it so you can't see it.
Part of this cache is theme oriented. I included some items related to Penn State University and thought it would be fun to exchange items from other Universities. So, if you take a Penn State item from the cache, please replace it with another item related to another University. It dosen't need to be a Penn State item. Stickers, sports schedules, key chains, posters, pencils, ect. will do just fine. There are other items available too!
