Lake Lanier originally by Jay Chamberlain.
This is a good cache for beginners. It is off the trail far enough that most non-geocachers will not notice it.

It isn't in a stump hole, or under a rock or log.

Its not bad enough I get sent 110 miles for another Auburn cache. No sooner was I informed of that possibility when I was also made aware of a special cache near Atlanta, GC21, which was a rare cache hidden in August of 2000. So I headed out this afternoon for that treasure. Team Pluto is having as much adventure on this Atlanta trip as I am, albeit vicariously. Except he is not getting cold and wet. I checked weather radar and it looked as if some dryer weather was coming. I got to the area of this venerable old cache which required a long drive and a short walk along a trail pretty quickly. As I settled in for the search in a dense piney wood the rain of course decided to set in. My gps (both of them) were pointing me all over the place in that tree cover. One should never get in a hurry in the rain searching desperately for a cache. It leads to trouble. The people who have already found this cache will find it hard to believe that I had trouble finding it but I did. I was not about to give up easily so I finally spotted it an could kick myself for making it so hard. I have now logged a cache placed in August 2000, Lake Lanier, and am told by the instigator that I will appreciate it if I ever start filling the date hidden grid. TFTC OWL

Found while our caching with Jayhawk64 and my two beautiful nieces. We were having lots of fun today and hated we had to cut our day short because of the sleet. This one was the last one before we had to quit. Think this one is our oldest find now. TFTC!
