The cache container is a clear pretzel container with the usual
"stuff" in it.
The climb from the end of the road up passed the ore shoot
is a hard one. Two of us came home this afternoon a mess. Lots
of damage done by cactus, thick brush, and Sneaky Rocks. Those
are rocks you step on and they roll out from under you putting
you into the brush or cactus.
This is not a cache for WHINERS. I recommend long pants, a
long sleeved shirt, and boots. Watch for snakes.
Study the maps, and do not try to approach from the top. That
would be a good way to get hurt. Also, the walk or drive up Slate
Creek is interesting.
We parked at: N 34 23.699 / W 112 28.939, and walked up the
road to the ore shoot. Another parking spot would be at: N 34
23.418 / W 112 29.40. This is the start of FS Road 9708C. Distance
to ore shoot .6 of a mile. From here you will be walking down
into Slate Creek and then up the creek toward the cache past the
other coordinates listed. You will hike on an old mining road
that will make a "Z" and go up the side of the hill.
The climb to the cache can be made on either side of the ore shoot.
Gloves help in the climb.
This cache is a lot harder to get to than Four
of Seven.
Will be looking forward to the logs cache seekers post.
