Geocache Description:

This cache is located just a long Tiger Woods (or Colin Montgomerie in this instance?) tee shot from the Royal Troon, site of the 1997 Open. Trivia question: Who won?

This cache is located in a populated area so try not to be too conspicuous. It is buried just beneath the surface to minimise accidental discovery. You will require a light duty digging tool, such as garden hand shovel. There is a stone marking the location. It is probably the only stone in the vicinity. We had to import it. The cache is in a plastic food storage container with a snap-on lid. Use the enclosed cloth to clean the lid when re-sealing. You have to work a bit to ensure the lid is sealed all around.

The cache is a four liter container which includes several CD's. Among them are a U.S. Mapping software CD, a Risk Game CD, C&W Music and comedy. We've also included several Texas souvenirs such as a shot glass, etc. There are two miniature Shrek figurines along with some AA batteries, Texas bluebonnet seeds and other goodies. We've also left a disposable camera. Please take a photo of yourself and replace the camera.

If you decide to take one of the American dollar bills, be sure to register it @ wheresgeorge.com and enter post code 09421. If you include your email when you register you'll be able to see where it ends up next, perhaps in another geocache. ;-)

You don't need a car for this one. Troon is a nice day trip from Glasgow or vicinity by train. The cache is easy walking distance from the rail station and the town center. You can sleep in your own bed after you find this one. There is a nice beach and many good places to eat, including Cecchini's on Portland Street and restaurants at the Royal Troon, and the Piersland House Hotel across the road, also known as the Johnnie Walker House since it was originally built by the grandfather of the whisky magnate. (or so I'm told). Also plenty of fish & chip shops and more pubs than you can count.
