This Mega Cache is packed will a gazillion items. It replaces the cahce, Hoard of Many Things which was plundered nearby several months ago. This is considered a NEW cache so if you logged the OLD cache feel free to log this one. It's close to the old location but better hidden.
I recently logged my 100th find and this Cache was replaced to celebrate the occassion. What better way to celebrate than replacing the very FIRST cache I ever placed. In it you will find items I've collected from EVERY cache I've visited. Minus of course those caches which didn't have items to take. The items in this cache (and there are some GREAT things in this one) represent goods taken from caches from eight different states and two countries.
The cache container itself is a two litre Rubber Maid Collector's Jar with a 3 1/2 inch screw top lid. The container has been painted Primer Brown to help it go undetected.
Coordinates posted should be dead on. I checked the accuracy of my signal lock and it was at 7 feet. Not even waypoint averaging could improve upon it. Pretty amazing considering the heavy tree cover.
I have a few requests for those who visit this cache;
- There's a small plastic bag filled with foriegn coins in the bottom of the cache. (some dating back to 1835 and from countries that no longer exist). Please dont' mistakingly take the entire bag assuming it's ONE item -- pick your favorite and leave some for future visitors. I meant to put a note in the bag but forgot.
- The cache is well hidden. Since the nearby trail is used frequently please double check to make sure it is well concealed when you leave. It's in an area where it could be easily detected if sticking out from it's hiding place. The reason for the reminder is that there's a history of caches being plundered/stolen in the immediate area. Not sure if it was someone deliberately trying to spoil the fun for others or if they were removed by work crews who improved the local trails last spring.
Enjoy!! This is a large park with lots of hiking trails. I'm sure there's room for a few more caches in the area if you're looking for a nice spot.
