Easy walk in the woods. Suitable for the whole family. I am basically a lazy person so your off trail scramble is very short and NOT uphill. Please reseal the lid completely when you are done. Thanks. Enjoy the hike.

After re-reading some of the logs over the last year I feel compelled to add: NOT UPHILL NOT UPHILL NOT UPHILL NOT UPHILL NOT UPHILL after you leave the trail. If you think you need to be doing an uphill off-trail scramble, take a deep breath, take out one of the original style power bars (the ones with a taffy-like consistency) and keep walking on the trail until you've managed to chew your way through it. Again... NOT UPHILL, NOT UPHILL, NOT UPHILL, NOT UPHILL.

Wow, what a great experience. Left the famiy at the hotel and drove straight to this cache. Did a google earth overlay of the trails and had a really good idea of what to expect. What fantastic terrain. It was definitely a bit challenging due to it being quite slippery and wet. At the lowest point in the trail I noticed movement, I stood still and there were 2 big black things moving around. Dogs I am hoping. I ended up grabbing a stick nereby and starting to make a lot of noise while continuing to walk, they scampered off. Didn't see a single person out on the trails until I rounded the corner (fighting the temptation to not go up :), and then passed two couples. Thought they might be cachers. Walked right up to the cache, perfect spot. Check the last log and it was the day before. I ended up checking the log for proof that a couple friends found this back in the summer. :) :) not that I don't trust them. Haha. Then began the mostly uphill trek back and ended up passing both couples on the way back. I had my 'walking' stick with me.

It is so great that this cache has been kept active and is really appreciated. I specifically planned to find this particular cache. These historic caches are very rare. Thanks for keeping it going. The container was completely dry and in good condition. It was a very satisfying find.

I'm so glad that I had the chance to visit this cache with ricksto and nokaoi during our stay here on O'ahu. To make finding the oldest cache in Hawaii even more special, it was also #500 for nokaoi.

We completed the Aiea Loop Trail in the counter-clockwise direction making it more uphill than down. This turned out to be a good decision, it was quite slippery due to all the recent rain. I'm the only one that took a tumble...wouldn't you know. *grin* This wonderful 5.3 mile hike turned out to be one of the highlights of the day. There were peek-a-boo views of the H3, the Wai'anae mountains, Honolulu, and even a glimpse of Diamond Head.

Thank you, GeoGerms, for keeping this historical cache up and running for everyone to enjoy.

Alright! My 500th find is Hawaii's oldest cache. Walked right up to it (after catching my breath from the hike up to it). I really thought we should go "uphill", but ricksto kept repeating the mantra, "Not uphill, not uphill". Sure enough, the trail continues and curves back on itself and.....it's not uphill! TFTH TNLN

Nice hike this morning even though I did get a rain water rinse for about an hour and a half. Forgot the NOT UP HILL part for my first off trail venture after looking at my compass and than thought again and went right to it. Great to be able to still pickup the 23rd geocache every placed.
