Kiefer3D: Sorry, I should have just archived it in the first place. Eventually, I'll get a new cache posted, which is a multicache combining Gans Creek, Maple Ridge, and Shooting Star.

There's a lot to see in this state park, but most people bypass this part of it altogether. Gans Creek is typified by large bluffs on alternating sides. There are no bikes allowed, so unless you brought your horse, you'll have to hoof it. Depending on where you park, the hike will be 1-2 miles round-trip. I highly recommend passing by Coyote Bluff on your way to the cache. It isn't too far out of the way. If you're feeling your oats, you can go for the Shooting Star Bluff. Both are well worth the hike. Unlike the Western half of the park, you won't see too many other hikers on your way.
The best way to the cache is to follow the trails. The cache (ammo box) is only about 10 yards off of the trail, but it is well hidden. Don't rely too much on your GPS lest you take a leap of faith. The cache is high and dry. (If you're afraid of heights, this mightn't be the cache for you.)
ENJOY!!
