This carrier based interceptor Grumman F-14"Tomcat" is retired at the Palm Springs Air Museum.
This particular F-14 was assigned to a colorful squadron with an amazing combat history. To keep credit for the log email the squadron name to me separate from the cache log. On this day, Feb 5 2003 a memorial was held at this location for the crew of the space shuttle Columbia who were lost on reentry. The lost man formation of T 34 Mentors of the Dragon Squadron from March AFB flew by in tribute. I dedicate this cache to the memory of these brave souls who reached for the stars.

Last day in the Palm Springs area. Had a GREAT time and got an early morning start to stop by and get this cache. Drove by numerous times in our travels but never had time to stop in so wanted to get this one. Our LAST Cache on this trip. Our first time to the area and HAD A BLAST-- GOOD FRIENDS and LOT of Caches.
ONE LAST TIME--THANKS to ALL the area cachers for MAKING our holiday so enjoyable . Had hoped to get to 3000 finds BUT came up a few short--Now will have to do it in the SNOW & COLD
Thanks for bringing us to Interceptor--We always ENJOY the Virtual caches whereever we go and wish they were still available to do as they always take us to some "Hidden Gems" and are very educational as well.
Hope to come back again as we left lots of caches for another trip.
