The views from this location are excellent. This is the home of the oldest White Horse in Britain, Uffington, which was thought to be Iron age (500BC) but has recently been dated to Bronze age (1000BC).
There are many places of interest here including the Uffington Hill Fort, a large hill fort with good banks and defences, Dragon's Hill where George reputedly slew the dragon and the Ridgeway path.
** Update 1st January 05 **
The old cache was muggled so a new cache has now been placed nearby. Since this is a completely new cache, previous visitors may log this cache a second time if they wish.
This cache is a plastic lock&lock box in a camo bag. When replacing it then please ensure that it is hidden from every direction.
There is a choice of parking. The main car park is at N51°34.642', W01°34.693'. It is much the nicest place to park since it has excellent views and provides a nice walk over the hill fort to the cache. It also has proper picnic tables. If you want to go off-roading (soft-roaders OK for this application) then you could cache and dash at N51°34.308', W01°34.550'.
