Geocache Description:

This cache has undergone some recent minor and strategic revisions (9/6/2016) since it's placement in 2001. Ownership has changed and an update has been added to the bottom of the original desription.

Located off the trail leading to Dukes Creek Falls in north Georgia. The falls trail is wide, well maintained, and suitable for children. Difficulty should be easy.

This site is easily accessible from the Dukes Creek Falls trail and will hopefully prove to be a good beginner's cache. Please note and observe the Forest Service signs advising you to stay on the trail. The falls area receives a large amount of traffic which explains the well developed and maintained footpath. The cache is located off an established side trail which does not bear the "Stay on Trail" signage. We'll monitor the cache over the next few months and if it creates problems for the forest service then we'll move it to a better location. I suggest printing out the spoiler below and bringing it with you just in case you have trouble finding the cache without bushwacking. After finding the cache I suggest you head back to the falls trail and continue down the mountain to view Dukes Creek Falls.

When initially set out the cache contained an audio cd, a Monster.com hat, some trinkets, and a disposable camera. Please take a picture of you and your friends and return the camera to the cache and we'll post the pictures on the web.

For a great waterfall themed hat trick you can also hunt the Desoto Falls and Headwaters of the Chattahoochee River caches. All three would make for a full day! Oh, and please log your visit in the journal and on this website.

7-27-09 Update: After refitting the cache last fall I've yet to scan all the old log entries and post them online. My bad. The project remains on my "to do" list and once completed I'll put a copy back in the cache and an online copy on this space. A big thanks to Hzoi for writing me with instructions on how to update the travel bug contents. I've had quite a few folks write asking that I update the contents but no one had yet to address my requests for directions. Thanks! In the future, I'll hold off on reporting a travel bug as "missing" until I get a second confirmation message. Last fall I received a message that this cache was missing and yet a few days later it was "found". I think a confirmation log should avoid those problems while keeping the contents listing relatively updated. Thanks to all for logging their finds! Cache Owner 7-27-09
