Geocache Description:

Kid Friendly Restrooms available
Handicap Access Restricted hours

If you are in the western part of the Oklahoma panhandle to ascend the state's highest point, Black Mesa, learn about some local history by stopping at the Kenton Museum. Entrance to the museum is FREE and one can visit it year-round.

From Memorial Day until Oct. 1, the museum is normally open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm, Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. If you arrive during other times, you can make arrangements to visit the museum by contacting the curators, Asa & Fannie Jones, by calling 580-261-7479, or by stopping by at their house, located two blocks south of Kenton Mercantile. (Directions to their house are on the front door of the museum).

In order to successfully claim this cache, visit the museum, sign the guest list at the front desk with your team name, and e-mail me, at Ken@Highpointer.com, the answers to the following questions after visiting (no internet "finds"):

1) What two U.S. Presidents are pictured behind the phonograph?

2) In the display of "Barbed Wire of the Olde West", what is the name and date of the second barbed wire from the top directly below the sign?

3) What is the number on the Oklahoma highway sign donated by D & C Corbin? (It is next to the display of wrenches).

4) How many manual typewriters are on the floor in the room furthest to the back?

5) Who donated the fossil collection in the glass case? (There are dinosaur track molds on the floor in front of it).

Please don't post the answers here, even if encrypted.

Note: If the answers to any of the above questions appear to be missing, then simply skip that question. If you like, you can suggest a replacement question with answer.

Updated requirements, March 14, 2003: If you arrive when the museum is closed and are unable to get into the museum, then you can claim a finding by taking a picture of you and your GPS in front of the museum or at the "Kenton Museum" sign (as pictured by Dave and Dandy) and uploading it to your log entry.
