Update 5/27/13: Cache survived the Springs Fire and remains a part of the Santa Monica Mountains History Adventure. Original description: This was formerly "The Grotto" which was confiscated by a ranger because it was abandoned property on NPS land. In the Santa Monica Mountains, Geocachers can be cited and fined for hiding caches on NPS property. It is still O.K. to hide caches in the state parks within the Santa Monica Mountains.
So this cache has been moved to the closest state park. Container is 7.5 inches tall with a 4 inch screw top lid.
There are several routes to the cache, but the shortest, and steepest, is up the "Chumash elevator." If you take this route you will pass another cache on the way. Also, there are several more caches beyond this one.
