Geocache Description:

Since many of the rest of the DC's monuments have virtual caches, I thought this one was deserving as well. You'll have to take the walking bridge to get this one in spite of what your GPSr may be telling you. It involves a pleasant round trip hike of a little over a mile over packed trails.

The cache's title refers to the name of this island when the land was first granted to Lord Baltimore.

Rather than finding the fairly obvious memorial first, the stroll to the chosen virtual cache location gives you a scenic look at the rest of this island which is now known by a much more famous name. One question needs to be answered at the listed location and the other two at the site of the memorial. Hopefully this will give you the opportunity to explore some of the island's history as well as find out a few facts about a true pioneer.

To claim credit for the cache email me the answers to the following questions:

1. What is the last sentence (in english) on the sign at this location?

For parts 2 and 3 you will find the information at the memorial which is on a different part of the island (closer to where you entered). While it should be pretty obvious, the coordinates are N 38 53.838 W 077 03.843.

2. Who is the statue of?
3. What are the 4 words carved on top of the 4 granite tablets in the memorial plaza?

Hope you enjoy this sliver of serenity amidst the highways and byways.
