Greensted Ramble (Essex) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Chris n Maria: This long serving cache has finally been swept away by floods.
We can't find a decent replacement hiding place, so it is the end of the line for this one.

Geocache Description:

A quick look round the outside of the oldest wooden building in Europe - then on to the cache.

Please note the cache is very close to the footpath and finding it should not involve entering any nearby fields

Greensted Church is the oldest wooden church in the world, the oldest wooden building standing in Europe and has been dated to 845AD. It is still a working parish church.

You can park right next to the churchyard ( N51 42.264 E000 13.546). Then you need to take a walk around the churchyard to find the answers to the following 3 questions:

1. The Crusaders Grave is from the XYth Century - X+Y = Answer 1

2. Winifred Alice Hatton lived ABCD - EFGH
A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H = IJ
I+J = Answer 2

3.Mary Hilman was Organist & Choirmistress from MNOP - QRST
M+N+O+P+Q+R+S+T= UV
U+V = Answer 3

If the church is open (Open all year, daily, dawn-dusk), it's well worth a look round the interior.

Now head off to the cache where the use of the answers you found above will become apparent.
