Geocache Description:

Under a rock atop a ridge overlooking Koehn Lake and canyon to the north, near eastern boundary of Redrock State Park.

I started up 1000' below peak, from dirt road at N35 21.813 W117 55.937, and after commanding the ridge, followed a gnarly old road up to the peak. But one could drive (possibly even with 2WD) to around N35 23.213 W117 56.073, and hike in the 3300' to 3400' range south on this slight trail (which becomes a road around the next 3400' peak - and is only about half a mile from cache). But before reaching next peak, turn on a fork going east to a pile of boulders containing the cache. The ceramic mason jar cache is at base of highest boulder (which is about 4' in diameter), protected with rocks.

Original contents:

- an agate frog, wrapped in a rag
- a New Mexico refrigerator magnet
- a $1 bill
- a notebook
- a pencil
- a mint
- the standard geocaching note

The view is tremendous, especially on a clear day. Very colorful geology to the north, and the beautiful valley containing Koehn's Dry Lake to the south. I did a 5 mile loop hike from our usual cannon party campsite.
