Geocache Description:

You will have to hike to the summit of MT Empress to aquire this cache, located at an elevation of 659 m. on nw side if summit. The harrison trail will take to and from the cache site.Cache is a 4l icecream bucket camo painted....HAHHA

A starting point of n48,25.986 w123,42.861. you will be near the beginning of the harrison trail.[carefull not to park on pavement or u maybe towed during peak summer days]with a starting elevation of 34m and final of 659m this is definatly an uphill climb.the trail is mostly loose and rocky.I would recommend a sturdy soled hiking boots for a twisted ankle is a good possiblity on this hike. With the uphill leg taking 2.4 hrs to complete and 2.2 hrs back you should allow 5.5-6 hrs min for this cache.once started up the trail stay basically to the right, also stay on the most traveled and creek washed.(a lot of 4x4 and quad usage up until last few years as they have been forced out) near c'ords of 48.27.986 and 123.40.950.you will find arrow on an alder tree with an S showing direction to take.( there are other ways in however most are longer on foot.if you are familiar with that area harbourview rd will take u there as well as leechtown.going to the north @ tree junction the trail will take you near leechtown)the carved tree direction is approx 1.75 hrs from car.the climb gets steeper now.when the old rd arrives @ the summit the will be a parking spot off the main rd with east west direction and a recently blown down hemlock tree in the middle of the rd who's top is pointing into the parking spot.go west from there to find the trail to summit(it is well formed from trials bikes) after that yer on yer own.tip for the day is take spare socks for trip down to avoid blisters also dont forget yer zoom lens and binaculars for if it was like today the majoraty of lower van isle is viewable from here.if you wait till it rains u will encounter running water on the rd/trail for a good portion.
the cache contains
pair of binaculars (to be left there plz)
3 key chains
gold pencil
2 gold nuggets
