At this location you will find a plaque dedicated to a little known war time event. Read the plaque and do the math to find the missing details for the final cache location.

A = The number of Australian other ranks killed
B = Add the individual digits in the total number of Japanese other ranks killed/died/suicide
C = A + B
D = The number of Japanese officers killed and wounded plus the total number of Australian casualties

The cache is a 2 litre screw top container concealed under a bolder located at;
S 33º 49.ADA’
E 148º 41.DCB’
You will need to reach into the small cavity in which this cache is concealed, as the cache is not visible from the outside, please ensure that you replace it so it will not be accidentally discovered.

The cache has a Japanese theme so please try and stick to it, the initial contents were;
· Maneki Neko (Japanese cat used in shops to beckon in good fortune)
· Cowra Japanese garden tea spoon

Found by Mary & David at 1010. We seem to miss this one each time we come through Cowra, but not today. We had a fair idea about the relevant history, but we enjoyed refreshing our memories and filling in some blanks. Some muggles were at the start when we arrived, so we listened to the audio story while we gathered our numbers and did the maths. Then it was off to GZ. How wonderful to have a decent sized container, and not the micros that seem to be proliferating everywhere. Our thanks to P & J for another of your classics, which we should have done much sooner.

What an effort this turned out to be.
very interesting first point and we stayed a while.
We got all the questions right but we C'd when we should have D'd and that put us in a likely location but no cache.
Back to the car and try again. oh that's different.
This second GZ looked just as likely but was even better because the cache was there. ;-)
We also found every single grass seed in the area and Mrs GUIO's hayfever started to act up.

Had a few inquisitive glances from the bus load of tourists who swarmed around while we gathered the info for this one. In the end it was a pleasant stroll and a quick find.
Thanks Biggles Bear
