Located between 7th Concession and Weston Road where 16th Sideroad
would have existed. Approximately 2.5km North West of Strange,
Ontario.
Cache elevation: 314m
The cache is named "Strange Short-Cut" due to the fact that it is
hidden along a nice section of the Oak Ridges trail I often use as
a short-cut when mountain biking to my friend's place near Strange,
Ontario. For those of you that have never heard of Strange, it is
located near the crossing of Weston Road and 15th Sideroad, close
to King City.
The cache is a camouflage painted .30-cal ammo can hidden in the
rock wall.
You can enter the trail from the West end off 7th Concession at:
N43 56.919' W79 36.730' for a 1.5km hike taking you past GCJ4R5 Finding Nemo - Peach, or from the East
end off Weston Road at: N43 57.255' W79 35.189' for a shorter 700m
hike. Or hike this entire section of the Oak Ridges trail and visit
the other caches in the area!
The Oak Ridges Moraine extends 160 kilometres from the Niagara
Escarpment in the west to the Trent River system in the east, and
is on average 13 kilometres wide. One-hundred-and-fifty metres
deep, the Moraine stands out as one of the most distinct landscapes
of southern Ontario. Its height above the flat lands to the north
and south, its rolling hills and river and stream valleys and large
blocks of mixed forest provide solace and a sense of connection to
the people who live, work and play on the Moraine, natural and wild
habitat for flora and fauna, and untapped recreational
opportunities.
