Wild Geo Chase Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sissy-n-CR: This cache has been found by staff and brought in. Policy dictates that this cache now be archived.

I did have a very interesting conversation and attitudes are good to have policy changed.

Even if it is, this cache will not be replaced. Hopefully a new hunt (or two) will available in the future.

Thanks!

CR

Geocache Description:

Take a romp through a very nice, very educational, and slightly dangerous park.

About the Park:
The fee for access to this area is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children, and infants are free. Area open to the public Tuesday through Sunday 9am until 5pm or 6pm depending on time of year. Bicycles and Dogs are not permitted. Most of the area is stroller and wheelchair accessible, but some places may be a little difficult to navigate. Being in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, insect repellant is a must on any day too warm for a coat!

From the Caw Caw Interpretive Center website:
"This 654-acre site located within the Caw Caw Swamp is just 25 minutes from downtown Charleston, Summerville and Walterboro. The Center, rich in natural, cultural & historical resources, is comprised of several former rice plantations that operated during the 18th and most of the 19th century. Here & throughout the South Carolina Lowcountry enslaved Africans & African Americans were forced to apply their West & Central African agricultural experience, technology, & skills to rice cultivation. Out of vast, Lowcountry swamps these men, women & children successfully converted thousands of acres to rice fields. Still evident today are the earthen dikes, water control structures called rice trunks, & canals—all fruits of their slave labor." Click here to go the their website.

I have been informed there is now a formal policy on geocaching in the Charleston County Parks system. This was a heads-up from a park employee. If any caches are found on park property they will be considered lost property. They are not going to go out looking for them, but will bring them in if found.
