Before embarking on the search for this cache affirm that you have the following
equipment with you. GPS, compass, pencil and paper, protractor, string, fishing
sinker, astrolabe, lawn chair, a copy of "War and Peace" (just joking) plus
whatever else you usually take with you. Gaiters will not be needed.
In the pursuit of this cache you may enjoy some more Livermore silly things.
The given coordinates will take you to a landmark of uncertain size. There
is just about as much agreement between civic leaders and officials on the
size of this thing as there was where the time capsule was buried. Just so
we are all on the same page we will make our calculations from the bronze
plaque.
Figure out the size of the landmark from the bronze plaque and multiply it
by 6. If you march off this distance going 196 degrees true (Some people
do their marching to a different drummer, magnetic that is, but you
should know about declinations and all that stuff.) you will arrive at one
of the most inaccurate devices of its genre ever planted near a building
given to the city by a sometime steeler(Juaquin Murrietta did not live here).
If you still have your compass (Come to think about it all that steel may
drive it crazy) handy and know anything about our planet and the solar system
you will see why this specific gadget is very unreliable. If you do not have
a compass, wait until a nice starry night. Find the mini micro cache attached
to the device for further directions.
The coordinates given in the micro-cache will take you to an old vehicle that
Ron overlooked in creating his "Valet" series. Though this is a public park,
some things are pretty rustic and the area can be marshy as they sprinkle
occasionally.
The cache is camouflaged fittingly and is small so anything over 1x2x4 inches
will fill it completely.
The omnipresent homeless folk present an unforseen obstacle. A suggestion
to try. Go in pairs and while one of you distracts them with a box of donuts
the other can snag the cache.
Upon being hidden it contained:
A couple of Hong Kong coins.
A wrist watch
Travel bug "Psittacosis"
Log Book, pencil and the usual Geocaching letter
