A virtual cache at Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China
Tiananmen is the world's largest square, but most people know of it due to the events that occurred in 1989 where PLA tanks and solders opened fire on pro-democracy demonstrators. Nowadays, people wonder throughout the square flying kites and socializing.

Since most of Tiananmen is tiled, there is no place to hide a cache, so a virtual one has been placed here instead. To score a find for this cache, locate the tile at the cache position above and have someone take a picture of yourself and your GPS clearly visible and upload it with your log. To prove that you were at Tiananmen, you should stand infront of the monument located to the south (i.e., stand infront of the monument pictured to the right).

A word of caution: Tiananmen is still under heavy security. On the off chance that there is a large crowd of people or a protest happening in the square then do not attempt this cache!

Found with The Kokopelli. Much warmer and less windy than our last trip across the square. TFTC

I had 6 or 7 virtual and 1 earth cach loaded up for a 2 week Beijing trip. Did some work, plus lots of site-seeing and eating, but this was the only cache I got to log as a find. My GPS was acting up inside the Forbidden city so I had to pass on "Case Closed" although I saw a lot in there too. TFTC!

Was a clear bright morning so decided to take this in. It has been almost 8 months since I was down here last, and I see that the security and scanners from last June are still here. My two mobiles and GPSR got some strange looks but was waved through anyway. Was on the run to the Forbidden City cache so the photo is self taken at arms length. TFTC.
