Geocache Description:

Locate a silo made from fieldstones; the entire vertical wall must be made completely from fieldstones (see the picture for a sample). The cache coordinates are of the silo in the picture, which was constructed in 1938 and is located about 4 miles west of Kingsley, MI. Michigan claims the credit for the first fieldstone silo, built in 1875 by Manly Miles.

The rules:

  • fieldstone (n.): stone that has been left in its natural state as found in fields, used typically to build walls, walks, etc.
  • Log your visit and include a picture of you (your hand if you are caching alone), the fieldstone silo, and your GPSr all in the same picture. The photo must be of sufficient quality to clearly show that the silo is made from fieldstones. Hence, a photo taken from a mile away across a farmer’s field will not do.
  • The silo must be a true silo, i.e., currently is or was once used for the storage of grain, etc.
  • Log the coordinates, city and state location of the silo.
  • You may only log this cache once and the first finder can only log a particular silo.
  • Make sure your find has not already been found by checking the cache log entries.
  • Respect private property, do not trespass.
  • YOUR LOG WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE IF THE ABOVE RULES ARE NOT FOLLOWED. PERIOD.
