During the river drives of the lumbering era, many logs became lodged in the banks and bottoms of the stream and were left behind. Following the decline of the logging industry, several individuals sought and were granted salvage rights in specific sections of the stream and a mill once used to turn this abandoned timber into lumber stood upon the plateau in the vicinity of this cache.
