According to my dictionary, toyon is American Spanish for an
evergreen shrub with white flowers and red berries, also called
Christmas Berry. No idea what that has to do with this area. What
you're looking for is an authentic World War II relic hidden here
in the east bay hills. Eisenhower considered it one of the three
most important pieces of equipment in the war, along with radar and
the heavy bomber.
From the nearest parking, the site is about a quarter mile on
mostly level asphalt and gravel, although you do have to step off
the road for the last ten feet. WARNING - don't go into or close
to the edge of the steep slippery ravine. There's partial tree
cover - if you can't get a good GPS signal, feel free to use the
hint. The cache is a Rubbermaid 1.8 quart "Servin' Saver
Rectangle", clear with a beige top. A photo of the box in
situ might give away the hiding place, so I've only provided a
photo of the box before hiding. Initial contents:
- Geocaching info sheet.
- A notepad and two pens, to log your visit.
- Three Singing Science CDs.
- A "Where The Wild Things Are" card game.
- Three dinosaur coins.
- A purple anodized mini-carabiner.
- A mini belay-device key fob.
- A harmonica.
- Some green army men.

November 21, 2009 by Harmony Baby (1260 found) We liked taking this hike today. The path was muddy but not so much that we couldn't get to our destination. Once we got to GZ, we had to wait for the parade or horses to go by before we could search. We searched where our GPS told us but found nothing. We decided to expand our search area and good thing that we did. We found the cache at the other end. The container was filled with water and the baggy had a hole so the log was wet. We dried everything as best we could but didn't have another bag or log with us to replace the damaged ones. One the way back to the car, we stopped to visit with Corazon, a very friendly horse. Thanks for the fun! Took nothing. Left my signature piece. (#1208)

October 24, 2009 by rohrerboy (1370 found) Our 1,083rd find.E was at baseball practice so I took the time to go out caching. I've been on this road before, but it was so long ago that I think it was when it connected to Wildcat Canyon Road. That had to be back in the 60's. I'm old, but not too old and I don't remember it very well. The coordinates were quite a distance off and had me well on the other side of the bridge. T: Pepsi TB L: Annoying Critter TB SL TFTC

October 12, 2009 by Karoshi59 (253 found) Eisenhower considered the trestle bridge to be "one of the three most important pieces of equipment in the war?" Hmm. I would have chosen something else, but regardless, this is a beautiful sight, one that I've gone over many times over the years of hill training. The hide is wonderfully cached, but I would say that the log really needs to either be dried out, put in a more moisture proof bag, or replaced altogether. I used J5 Crew's coordinates listed in the logs, and they put me right on the money. SL TNLTB. TFTC.

September 16, 2009 by leolund (877 found) Today it was an interesting hike. Lots of muggle horsemen and bikers around the head of this old road...now considered a fire trail. Its private for vehicles but public for other modes of travel including my tennis shoes. TFTC
