I found this quite interesting.
While driving through Spanish Fork one day, I saw this "Lighthouse
in the Desert". It seemed a little odd to me so I stopped to "read
more about it".
The plaque says "Leif Eriksson, an Icelander, discovered America
in 1000 AD. Eight centuries later, in 1855-1860, sixteen pioneers
from Iceland established in Spanish Fork the first permanent
Icelandic Settlement in the United States."
